About our Office

The Community Service Office is dedicated to promoting civic engagement and social responsibility through service learning. We strive to create positive change that addresses needs in the local community and beyond. Countless opportunities for involvement enable students to engage in service experiences complementing their interests and objectives.

Support the Troops
November Day of Service
November 16, 2013: 1pm - 4pm

Come support or troops by baking cookies and writing letters to be included in care packages! To register, click here. We are also collecting care package donations in the Community Service Office. Some examples of items you could donate include: drink mixes, beef jerky, trail mix, protein bars, gum, hotel-sized hygiene products, chapstick, Q-tips, ear plugs, feminine hygiene products, books, magazines, paper, pens/pencils, and envelopes. There are endless possibilities, so be creative!

2014 Service-Learning Trips

Urban Immersion: Washington D.C.
January 13-18, 2014

The Offices of Community Service and Campus Ministry will be traveling to Washington D.C. to learn about and serve the homeless and working poor of the city. Participants will stay at the Washington Seminar Center and volunteer at agencies such as N Street Village and Capitol Area Food Bank.

Spring Break Alternative: Perryville, AR
March 8 - 15, 2014

The Community Service Office will also be traveling to Arkansas to work with an organization called Heifer International, which was founded on the simple belief that ending hunger begins with giving people the means to feed themselves. Participants will live at Heifer Ranch and take part in hands-on activities promoting sustainable solutions to global hunger, poverty, and environmental degradation.

Cost: $200 plus a refundable $50 deposit
