Connection Check

  1. Go to the start menu, click on run, and type “cmd” in the field and click OK.
  2. Type in the following at the command prompt, “ping www.yahoo.com”. If the reply you receive says, “Unknown Host www.yahoo.com” skip to CONNECTING YOUR COMPUTER otherwise go to Network Settings. Connecting Your Computer
  3. Check to make sure your network cord is plugged between the computer and the wall. Network cords can be purchased from the bookstore. DO NOT use phone cord wire for your network connection as this will not work.
  4. Restart your computer and see if re-connecting your network wire has helped.
  5. If not, try to swap your network cord with another person that has a working one. If this works, you need to purchase a new network cord. If it does not work, go to Network Settings.
