Welcome to Campus Ministry
Spring 2009 Bible Studies & Discussion Groups
Ladies Bible Study - Wednesdays @ 7:45PM, Good Hall 1st Floor Lounge
You’re invited to a discovery about 12 extraordinary women throughout the Bible! Together each week we’ll learn about the courage, vision, hospitality, and spiritual giftedness of these ladies whose struggles and temptations are the same we experience today and be challenged and motivated by their faithfulness, service, and worship to God. Some of the women we’ll come to know include Ruth, Sarah, Hannah, The Samaritan woman, and Mary Magdalene. A.R.F. – Academic Roundtable of Faithfulness - Bi-Weekly, Standing Stone Coffee Company’s roundtable, Times and dates to be determined
Does God care about academics? What difference might being a Christian make for a college student? W hat does faithfulness look like in the classroom? What is a Christian perspective, and how do you go about developing one? If you’ve asked any of these questions before, you’re not alone! You’re invited to this bi-weekly group to gather at Standing Stone Coffee Co.’s roundtable to ask these questions and more: Learning what it means to be a Christian student in day-to-day life; Grow in an understanding of what academic faithfulness means; Sharing successes and struggles in academic faithfulness; Sharing what you’re learning and working on as a student with other passionate students; Challenging one another to think deeply, act wisely, and serve humbly; Traveling to museums and other destinations to learn about God’s creation together! Men’s Bible Study - Wednesdays at 10:00 PM, Alternatives to Alcohol House (1731 Mifflin St)
Themes that challenge us to think more deeply about life in general and faith specifically abound in many popular films. Each week this semester, we’ll look at a few clips from one of those movies and talk about what we can learn about living courageously as men of faith in our world today. This will continue to be a fun and informal time to fellowship, reflect, and eat together weekly. For more information, contact College Chaplain Dave Witkovsky at the Unity House or at witkovl@juniata.edu, or just drop in and check it out.
The "Who is Jesus?" Study, Monday @ 8:00 in Unity House or Tuesday @ 3:30 in the Cream Room (Back room of 2nd floor of Ellis)
Teacher? Prophet? Crazy Man? Messiah? God's Son? Jesus has got to be one of the most misunderstood people in all of history. This brief study will take you through the Gospel of Mark in a discussion setting. We will read a short passage and then discuss the context and content. This is not church. Any person from any faith from any background is welcome to come, learn, and share perspective on this large question. There is no commitment required, and we will make sure to stop the discussion after 40 minutes. Explore who the Bible says Jesus is. X-Treme Bible Study - The meeting time will be determined by the group of students who want to be involved.
Do you find it difficult to connect good news to your everyday life? Do you want to know more about yourself and God. This study is it. This course is designed in a way to really show you what you are trusting in, how the good news of God enables freedom, and provide foundational lessons that you will be able to reference for life. This study will offer new insights from some key, brief articles, time for discussion, and exercises for self-reflection. Because this study will be so intense, I am asking for a commitment from everyone participating. This commitment will include regularly attending the weekly study, completing short assignments for those meetings, dedicating a day of service to the community in an exercise of service learning, and a meal or two just to hang out and have fun as a group. I hope to develop a comfortable space for meeting with snacks, coffee and tea. And maybe hot cocoa. Contact Campus Ministry Affiliate Matthew Ramsay 717-269-3593 or matt.ramZ@gmail.com
Where is God when …?
